Student Lab Experiences Aboard the Cardinal on the Neches River

Student Outdoor Lab Workshops

Neches River Adventure programs are adventure-based, discovery programs developed to engage students in hands-on learning act ivies on it floating laboratory classroom. Comprehensive programs include outdoor lab experiences and interactive classroom presentations and links to State standards-based curriculum.

  • Students work with environmental education professionals and their teachers to utilize new curriculum in outdoor education.
  • Students work with national, award-winning materials that link to Texas State Standards (TEKS)
  • Students' teachers take curriculum activities back to the classroom that emphasize the environment and its relationship to important factors in their lives.
  • Student curriculum is often tied to work done in NRA teacher professional workshops.
  • Students learn how environmental education can be linked to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in the classroom and improve performance on State testing standards. Explore watershed features and water conditions aboard the floating classroom, the Cardinal.
